Curry College Dominates Penn College

ELMIRA, N.Y. - Curry College women's basketball defeated Penn College 75-38 in the first round of the Elmira Tipoff Tournament Saturday afternoon at Speidel Gymnasium.

With the win, the Colonels improve to an overall record of 2-0 to remain undefeated on the young season.

Curry jumped out to an early lead, shooting 9-for-15 in the first quarter which included a nine-point scoring run made possible by field goals from Kasey Reeves (Millbury, Mass.), Samantha Conti (Woodbury, Conn.), and Ellery Campbell (Rockland, Mass.). The Colonels kept the pressure on in the second quarter, allowing only two points to be scored in the entire period.

The third was highlighted by an impressive three-point shooting performance as Curry went 5-for-8 in the quarter with threes from Sophie Hilbrunner (Waltham, Mass.), Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.), Emerson Cherry (Sturbridge, Mass.), and Conti.

Dunn led Curry offensively, finishing with 13 points, five assists, and four steals. Reeves was another major contributor with 12 points and five rebounds while Hilbrunner had seven points and a game-high eight rebounds. Campbell had an impressive game coming off the bench, finishing with nine points and seven rebounds.

Curry College will play in the finals of the Elmira Tipoff Tournament tomorrow, Sunday, November 12, against Elmira at 2 p.m.
