Colonels Close Out Season With 72-54 Win Over Leopards

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Women's Basketball defeated Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Wentworth by a final score of 72-54 at Katz Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Colonels close out the season 7-18 overall this season and 3-15 in the CCC.

Prior to the start of the afternoon conference matchup, Curry College Women's Basketball recognized three seniors in a special senior day celebration. Curry College's Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.), Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.), and Kathryn Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) were joined on the court by their friends and family for the ceremony.

The Colonels dominated in the opening quarter, notching 21 points to Wentworth's 11. Senior forward Kathryn Dunn led the charge with 11 points and three rebounds in the opening ten minutes. 

The visiting Leopards managed to outscore the Colonels through the second quarter (15-12), however, the Colonels still held a 33-26 lead heading into halftime. 

Curry continued to dominate in the third quarter, with senior guard Kaitlynn Smith contributing nine points in the third alone. Two successful free throws knocked down by Kristyanna Remillard pushed Curry to a 21-point lead with just over four minutes remaining in the third quarter. 

The visitors were able to keep the scoring tight between the two conference sides in the final quarter in Katz Gym, however, the Colonels would hold their strong lead, taking down the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology by a final score of 72-54.

The Colonels were led by Kathryn Dunn (23 points, 9 rebounds), Kaitlynn Smith (17 points, 5 rebounds), and Lauren Dunn (12 points, 7 rebounds).
