Colonels Downed by Nor'Easters in Conference Play

BIDDEFORD, MAINE - Curry College Women's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent University of New England by a final score of 80-52 on the road Wednesday evening. 

With the loss, the Colonels fall to 6-18 overall this season and 2-15 in the CCC.

The opening quarter in the conference matchup saw the hosting Nor'Easters jump to a 14-7 lead through the first seven minutes. Curry would then close in on the hosts' lead, Kathryn Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) and Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) combining for seven in two minutes, closing out the first quarter 16-14 in favor of UNE.
The Colonels gained the lead just under eight minutes into the second quarter, Kathryn Dunn knocking down a shot from the field to push her side in front 28-27. The two conference sides would exchange blows through the duration of the half, Ellery Campbell (Rockland, Mass.) notching a layup in the final moments of the half to send the contest into halftime with the teams tied 34-34. 

UNE would take over in the third quarter, tallying 21 points to Curry's six. The Nor'Easters marked 40% shooting in the third quarter while holding the Colonels to just 16.7%. 

The Colonels would not be able to catch the lead gained by the Nor'Easters in the fourth quarter, falling to the conference opponent by a final score of 80-52 in Biddeford, Maine Wednesday evening.

Curry College was led by Lauren Dunn (17 points, 6 rebounds) and Kathryn Dunn (10 points, 5 rebounds).

The Colonels to the court Saturday as they host CCC opponent Wentworth for their final game of the regular season set for 12 PM. Prior to tip-off on Saturday, Curry College Women's Basketball will recognize their three seniors in a senior day celebration.
