Gulls Hold Off Colonels 68-67

BEVERLY, Mass. - Curry College Women's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College by a final score of 68-67 on the road Saturday afternoon. 

With the loss, the Colonels fall to 6-17 overall this season and 2-14 in the CCC.

The Colonels took charge in the opening quarter in Beverly, Mass., outscoring the hosting Gulls 17-13 as Curry's Kathryn Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) led the attack with six points on three field goals. 

Endicott College took back the lead in the second quarter, grabbing a two-point lead as the two sides went into the half. Curry's Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.) tallied 12 points on four free throws and four field goals to lead the Colonels in the first half.

The third quarter in Beverly, Mass. saw the two conference sides exchange blows throughout the ten-minute period, Endicott narrowly outscoring Curry 20-19. Two successful free throws from Remillard in the final moments of the quarter sent the contest into the final quarter with Endicott leading 55-52. 

A three-pointer from the top of the arc by senior forward Kathryn Dunn pushed the Colonels to a one-point lead with 26.6 seconds remaining, prompting a timeout by the hosting Gulls. Two free throws from Endicott's Emily St. Thomas on the following possession would grant the Gulls a one-point lead over Curry with 21.5 seconds left in regulation. With under five seconds left, Curry's freshman guard Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) would attempt a buzzer-beater three-pointer to no avail, closing out the Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup 68-67 in favor of the hosting Gulls. 

The Colonels were led by Kristyanna Remillard (20 points, 4 rebounds), Kathryn Dunn (15 points), and Kylie McCarthy (10 points, 9 rebounds).

The Colonels return to the court Wednesday as they travel to face CCC opponent University of New England at 5:30 PM.
