Colonels Shut Down by Salve Regina

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Women's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Salve Regina by a final score of 75-60. 
With the loss, the Colonels fall to 6-13 overall this season and 2-10 in the CCC.

The first quarter in Katz Gymnasium saw two evenly matched conference sides. The visiting Seahawks outpaced the Colonels 17-15 through the opening ten minutes. Curry's Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) led the Colonels with five points in the opening quarter. 

The second quarter saw the Colonels take a two-point lead over the visitors as Lauren Dunn knocked down a three with five minutes remaining in the first half. Salve would close out the half with eight more points to Curry's three to take a 32-29 lead heading into the second half.

The Colonels closed in on the Salve lead in the third quarter, Kathryn Dunn notching a layup and a successful free throw to bring the score to 48-44 in favor of the visitors. A strong performance from Salve's Amanda Folan sent the matchup into the final quarter with Curry trailing 54-46.

Salve Regina continued to hold back the Colonels from catching their lead in the fourth quarter, sealing the 75-60 victory for the visiting Seahawks. 

The Colonels were led by Lauren Dunn (18 points), Kathryn Dunn (15 points, 5 rebounds), and Kaitlynn Smith (11 points).

The Colonels return to the court Wednesday as they travel to face CCC opponent Gordon College at 5:30 PM.
