Colonels Downed by Fighting Scots

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College Women's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Gordon College Tuesday evening by a final score of 66-56.

With the loss, the Colonels drop to 5-9 overall this season and 1-6 in the CCC.

The visiting Fighting Scots grabbed a lead early in the conference contest, outscoring the Colonels 13-7 through the opening 5:36. A Kathryn Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) shot from the field in the quarter's closing moments brought the Colonels within eight of the visitors' lead heading into the second quarter. 

The second quarter saw the visiting Fighting Scots push their lead to 13 through the first half, Madison Wynbeek leading the charge with 12 points. Gordon's Serianna Anderson also contributed to the first-half lead with nine rebounds. Curry's Kathryn Dunn led her side with five points in the first half.

Curry began scoring in the third quarter on a Kathryn Dunn three-pointer and a Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.) successful shot from the field in the opening moments. The visitors' 12-7 scoring run closed out the third quarter with the Fighting Scots leading 49-28.

The Colonels fought back in the fourth quarter, outpacing Gordon College 28-17 through the final period. Ten points on two threes and four free throws from freshman guard Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) in the fourth quarter brought the Colonels within ten points of the visitors, falling to the Fighting Scots by a final score of 66-56.

The Colonels were led by Kathryn Dunn (19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Lauren Dunn (13 points, 4 rebounds).

The Colonels return to the court Saturday as they travel to face CCC opponent Western New England at 1 PM.
