Women’s Basketball Taken Down by Hawks

BRISTOL, RI - Curry College Women's Basketball fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Roger Williams on the road Saturday afternoon by a final score of 59-32.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to 5-3 overall this season and 1-1 in the CCC.

The hosting Hawks dominated the visiting Colonels through the opening half, outscoring Curry 33-14 while holding the Colonels to just four successful shots from the field. Curry's Kylie McCarthy (Beverly, Mass.) led her side in the opening half with six points.

The second half of the conference bout saw the hosting Roger Williams Hawks hold back the Colonels from closing in on the lead set in place in the first half. Curry College senior guard Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.) looked to close in on the host's lead in the second half, notching eight points while shooting 66% from the field. The Colonels would not be able to catch the Roger Williams lead, falling to the Hawks by a final score of 59-32.

The hosting Roger Williams Hawks were led by forward Sophie Araneo who marked 17 points and five rebounds. 

The Colonels were led by senior guard Kaitlynn Smith (8 points) and Kylie McCarthy (7 points, 2 assists).

The Colonels return to the court Tuesday as they continue CCC action with a home matchup against Nichols College at 5 PM.
