Colonels Take Down Bison in Final Game of the Regular Season, 82-77

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Basketball team defeated conference opponent Nichols College Saturday afternoon in their final game of the regular season. The contest was decided at 82-77 in favor of the Colonels. 

With the win at home, Curry closes out the regular season at 4-21 and 1-17 in the conference. 

The two conference sides went back and forth in the opening quarter this afternoon. Curry struck first with pair of threes from Jamey Satterfield (Eddington, Maine) and Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.). Nichols fought back and quickly closed the gap with a three from Summer Klein. The Colonels would hold a one-point edge over the visiting Bison at the conclusion of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the same attacking and defending efforts from both sides. Four points from three of Nichols' guards kept them at pace with the Colonels. Curry's Kaitlynn Smith and Lily Gray (Brooksville, Maine ) marked 3 points each as Kathryn Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) saw two shots fall from beyond the arc. The two teams would head into halftime tied at 36 apiece.

Curry took a slight lead past Nichols, outscoring the visitors 21-16 in the third quarter. Two free throws from Curry's Kristyanna Remillard () gave Curry a 15-point lead with seven minutes remaining in regulation. The Colonels held off any substantial Bison attacking efforts, closing out the contest at 82-77. 

The Bison were led by Abrianna Vazquez (22 pts, 11 ast) and Summer Klein (19 pts, 11 reb).

The Colonels were led by Kathryn Dunn (22 pts, 11 reb), Lily Gray (18 pts, 6 ast), and Kaitlynn Smith (15 pts).

Curry gets back out on the court Monday as they travel to Springfield, Mass. to face WNE as they begin post-season play. Tip-off on the road is set for 7 PM.
