Leopards Outlast Colonels, 59-55

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Basketball team fell to conference opponent Wentworth Wednesday evening by a final score of 59-55.

With the loss at home, the Colonels fall to 3-21 overall this season and 0-17 in the CCC. With the win, Wentworth improves to 4-19 this season and 2-15 in the conference.

The contest began evenly matched between the two conference sides. The Colonels grabbed a two-point lead through the first quarter, Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.) and Jamey Satterfield (Eddington, Maine) combining for 7. 

Curry got into a rhythm in the second period of play, outscoring Wentworth 13-7. Colonels senior guard Lily Gray (Brooksville, Maine) tallied six points from two shots from beyond the arc assisting in the eight-point lead heading into the half. 

Colonels guards Gray and Satterfield opened the scoring in the second half with a pair of threes to give Curry a 12-point lead. Five layups from Wentworth forward Maddy Foster assisted in the visitor's 18 points to Curry's 16 in the third quarter. 

The final quarter of the evening matchup saw an overwhelming defensive effort from the visiting Leopards. Curry saw just eight points added to their score in the fourth quarter. Wentworth's Brianna Carroll gave her side a lead with a three-pointer with just over two minutes on the clock. Curry's Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.) regained the lead with a three-pointer of her own just seconds later. With the score tied at 49, Wentworth's Nattaly David was unable to knock down a deep two, sending the contest into overtime. 

The visiting Leopards outscored the Colonels 10-6 in the overtime period, taking the contest by a final score of 59-55.

The Colonels were led by Lily Gray (15 pts, 7 reb), Kaitlynn Smith (13 pts), and Jamey Satterfield (10 pts).
