Colonels Fall to Rams in Conference Action

BOSTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Basketball Team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Suffolk University by a final score of 94-26 Saturday afternoon.

With the loss on the road, Curry falls to 3-19 overall this season and 0-15 in the conference. With the win, Suffolk improves to 16-6 on their season and 10-5 in the CCC.

Suffolk held a commanding lead from the start of the afternoon contest. The first quarter saw the Colonels outscored by the hosts 27-14. Curry's Lily Gray (Brooksville, Maine) and Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.) combined for 10 of the 14 first-quarter points. The hosting Rams held Curry to a scoreless second quarter, entering half leading 52-14.

The Rams did not slow their attacking efforts as play resumed, producing a 31-point quarter to Curry's five out of the halftime intermission. The fourth quarter saw a much more balanced effort from both sides, Curry outscored by only four in the final installment of regulation. The Suffolk University Rams would take the afternoon bout by a final score of 94-26.

The Rams were led by Sydney Richard (17 pts, 4 stl), Gabriella DeComo (15 pts), and Emily Welling (12 pts, 8 reb).

The Colonels were led by Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.) (8 pts, 2 stl), Lily Gray (7 pts, 5 reb), and Kristyanna Remillard (7 pts, 4 reb).

Curry gets back on the court Monday as they host Salve Regina at Katz Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 5 PM.
