Colonels Defeated by Fighting Scots

WENHAM, Mass. - The Curry College Women's Basketball Team fell to conference opponent Gordon College Thursday evening by a final score of 78-57.

With the loss on the road, Curry falls to 3-18 overall this season and 0-14 in the conference. With the win, Gordon improves to 8-12 overall and 6-8 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

The night's conference matchup began in favor of the hosting Fighting Scots. A 23-4 lead with two and a half minutes left in the first quarter granted the hosts a comfortable cushion heading into the second quarter. Curry's Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.) and Emerson Cherry (Sturbridge, Mass.) each tallied a field goal as Jamey Satterfield (Eddington, Maine) knocked down a three in the late stages of the first quarter, still down 28-13. The second quarter would see the hosts outscore the visiting Colonels 21-11. This sent both sides into the half with Gordon College leading 49-24. 

Curry saw a change in momentum as they held the hosts to 44.4% (8-18) from the field while still only managing 31.3% (5-16) themselves. The hosts did not see any threes drop in the third period, however, they did manage to hold their lead heading into the final period of play. The Colonels found a second wind in the final quarter, outscoring Gordon 18-11, led by Curry freshman Jamey Satterfield who marked 7 points in the final quarter alone. The Colonels were unable to catch the Gordon lead despite their strong efforts in the second half. The final score of the contest would be 78-57 in favor of the Fighting Scots.

The Fighting Scots were led by Cara Andreotti (19 pts), Ami Rivera (12 pts, 5 reb), Serianna Anderson (11 pts), and Madison Wynbeek (10 pts, 9 reb).

The Colonels were led by Kristyanna Remillard who recorded 13 points and Jamey Satterfield who marked a career-high 13 points and 6 assists. Curry's Lily Gray (Brooksville, Maine) also tallied 10 points and 8 rebounds. 

Curry gets back out on the court Saturday as they take a short trip down the road to face Suffolk University at 1 PM.
