Colonels Fall to Endicott College in CCC Action

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Women's basketball team was downed by conference opponent Endicott College Saturday afternoon at Katz Gymnasium by a score of 74-45.

With the loss at home, the Colonels fall to 0-5 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference and 3-9 overall on the season. With the win on the road, the Gulls of Endicott improve to 2-2 in the CCC and 5-6 overall.

The afternoon matchup would prove to be a dominant victory for the visiting Gulls. With the score tied 4-4 just over a minute into regulation, the conference matchup would not come any closer for the entirety of the game. The Gulls sprung into action, tallying a 15-6 run to close out the opening ten minutes. Curry guards Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.) and Kristyanna Remillard (Hanson, Mass.) combined for eight points in the first, leading their side. The second quarter would proceed much like the first period. The Gulls outscored Curry in the second 18-9 while marking 36.4% (8-22) from the field while holding the Colonels to just 28.6% (4-14).

The Colonels faced an 18 point deficit heading into the second half and could not find the momentum to battle back offensive efforts presented by the visitors. The Gulls would take the conference contest by a score of 74-45 at Katz Gymnasium.

The Gulls were led by forward Tara Laugeni (26 pts, 10 reb) and forward Sarah Dempsey (15 pts, 18 reb). Also assisting in the victory was guard Olivia Duncan (5 pts, 13 reb, 5 stl) and guard Libby Fleming (13 pts, 6 reb).

The Colonels were led by junior forward Kathryn Dunn (12 pts, 12 reb) and senior guard Lily Gray (10 pts).

The Colonels get back on the court early next week as they host U. of New England Monday at Katz Gymnasium for more conference action. Tip-off is set for 2 PM.
