Women's Basketball Dropped by Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Curry College women's basketball team fell short to Salve Regina University by a final score of 68-58 Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Rodgers Recreation Center.

With the loss, Curry falls to 2-7 overall on the season and 0-3 in league action.

Curry mounted a comeback bid in the fourth quarter, but it would fall short in the end. The Colonels entered the fourth quarter trailing 56-36, but outscored the hosts 22-12 to cut the deficit down to 10 before the final horn. Junior Kristyanna Remillard (Abington, Mass.) scored seven of her team-high 16 points in the fourth to lead Curry.

The contest's lone double-double belonged to Curry junior Kathryn Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) who notched 10 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Classmate Katelynn Smith (Hull, Mass.) also reached double figures for the visitors with 11 points in the defeat. 

Salve Regina's Briana Neary was the star of the game, recording 28 points off the bench for the Seahawks to lift her team to the victory.

Curry will be back in action for its final game of the fall semester on Thursday evening with a non-league matchup against Lesley University on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff from Katz Gymnasium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
