Colonels Dropped by Framingham State in Season Opener

MILTON, Mass. - The Colonels' women's basketball team fell to non-conference opponent Framingham State University Friday evening at Katz Gymnasium. 

With the loss, the Colonels start their season with a record of 0-1. The Rams of Framingham State kick off their season 1-0.

The Rams broke away quickly holding the Colonels to only two points through the first quarter. With the 14 point lead going into the second ten-minute period, the Rams were able to comfortably move the ball around the court. 

The Colonels managed to knock down three three-pointers in the second quarter but could not compete with the added 24 points to the Rams scoreline. Down 40-16 at half the Colonels needed a momentum change. 

Through the second half, the Rams totalled at 84 to Curry's 41.

Rams forward Flannery O'Connor led her side with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Framingham's Katty Haidul also helped the team win with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Colonels guard Kaitlynn Smith (Hull, Mass.) led Curry with 13 points shooting 50% from beyond the arc. Curry senior guard, Lily Gray led the team in assists with 8 and also recorded 8 points in the contest. 

The Colonels head back out on the court Tuesday for an away game at Elms College. Tip-off slated for 7 PM.
