Women's Basketball Defeated 69-50 at First-Place UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine - Senior forward Kelly Coleman (Portland, Conn.) and junior guard Alanna Vose (Cushing, Maine) combined for 35 points to power the University of New England to a 69-50 Commonwealth Coast Conference women's basketball win over Curry College Tuesday evening (Feb. 17) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

Vose scored 11 of her game-best 18 points in the first half. She finished with four 3-pointers and five assists. Coleman tallied 17 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the floor and 5-for-5 accuracy at the free throw line. Four other players scored six points apiece for the Nor'easters.

Senior guard Kylie Beltz (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) was the lone Curry player in double figures with 14 points. She made all six of her free throw attempts. First-year Nicole Rice (Woburn, Mass.) came off the bench to score eight points and grab a game-high eight rebounds.

After the teams played to a 13-13 tie over the opening 6:20, UNE (20-4, 16-1 CCC) scored 15 of the next 17 points to establish a 28-15 advantage. Vose hit three treys and scored 11 points during the spurt, which culminated with her three-ball at the 5:46 mark.

The Nor'easters took a 32-21 advantage into intermission after limiting the Colonels (14-10, 11-6) to 27.3 percent (6 of 22) shooting and forcing 11 Curry turnovers.

UNE would maintain a double-digit lead the entire second frame, with its largest cushion (20 at 69-49) coming with just over a minute remaining.

The Nor'easters will conclude their regular season Saturday when they head to Rhode Island to face second-place Roger Williams University in a game set to tip-off at 1 p.m.
