Softball Drops Home Opening DH

Milton, MA - The Curry Colonels softball team fell to the UMass Boston Beacons in both games of their doubleheader, falling 9-3 and 8-0. The Colonels are now 7-5, while the Beacons are 9-1.

Game One

After neither team scored in the first two innings, the Beacons opened things up in the third with four runs. Three of those runs came on a bases clearing triple with the bases loaded. The Colonels responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning on a Jillian Rogers sacrifice fly. But the Beacons would continue to add to their lead, scoring once in the fourth, twice in the fifth, and once more in the sixth and seventh to go up 9-1. The Colonels would close the final score by scoring twice in the seventh, including one run on Natalie O'Kleasky's RBI single.

Rogers went the distance in the circle, striking out six batters across the seven innings.

Game Two

The Beacons went up immediately in the first, scoring six runs on seven hits. The Colonels would spread four hits over the next five innings, but were unable to push any runs across. Jillian Rogers had two of those hits.

Caitlyn Wood would go all five innings for the Colonels, and struck out one.

Up next - The Colonels will play again when they host Lesley on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 3pm.
