Softball and Women's Lacrosse Represent Curry in CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. - Two Curry College student-athletes earned Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly awards announced on Tuesday, March 19th, by the league offices.

After earning Defensive Player of the Week last week, junior Grayson Goolgasian (Johnston, R.I.) shined on the offensive side of the field, scoring 11 goals with six assists, nine ground balls, and eight draw controls in a 2-0 week for the Colonels. In a 13-12 win over Vermont State Castleton, Goolgasian totaled four goals, four assists, and four ground balls, while adding seven goals, two assists, and five ground balls in a 15-13 win over Dean.

Women's lacrosse holds a 4-3 overall record on the season, including a four-game winning streak. The Colonels continue the season on Wednesday, March 20th, with a road game against Clark University at 7 p.m.

Junior Jillian Rogers (East Freetown, Mass.) earned her first CCC Pitcher of the Week award after making seven appearances, including three starts in a five-win week for the Colonels. Rogers pitched a total of 24 innings, allowing just eight earned runs while retiring 35 batters by way of strikeout. Rogers was dominant during Curry's Spring Break trip, most notably in her performance against Susquehanna where she carried a no-hitter into the sixth and struck out 13 in a complete-game shutout.

Curry College softball opened the year with a six-game winning streak, posting a 7-3 record through their first 10 games. The Colonels look to continue that success with today's home opener doubleheader against UMass Boston at 3 p.m.
