Colonels Drop Pair to Gulls on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College Softball team was swept by Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Endicott College in a conference doubleheader at home Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Curry closes its regular season with a 17-22-1 record overall and 5-13 in the CCC.

Prior to first pitch on D. Forbes Will Field, Curry College Softball honored its two seniors in a special pre-game celebration. Curry's Emily Bussiere (Stow, Mass.) and Madison Schwartz (Bridgewater, Mass.) were joined on the field by friends and family ahead of the conference matchup.

 

Game 1 - Curry 0, Endicott 5

The first runs of the opening matchup came in the top of the third inning on an Endicott home run to center field, putting the Gulls up 2-0. 

Endicott would push its lead to 5-0 through the seventh inning while holding the Colonels to just three hits and no runs, claiming the opening matchup of the CCC doubleheader.

Curry's Madelyn White (Franklin, Mass.) notched two hits on three at-bats to pace the Colonels. Sophomore Jillian Rogers (East Freetown, Mass.) tallied 10 strikeouts in seven innings pitched for the Colonels.

 

Game 2 - Curry 0, Endicott 12

A dominant first two innings for the visitors saw Endicott grab an 8-0 lead over the Colonels heading into the third inning. The Gulls would push the lead to 12-0 through the top of the fifth while holding the Colonels to just two hits, claiming the victory in the second matchup of the afternoon.

Curry's Karlie Pontes (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Madison Schwartz each notched a hit in the second matchup of the afternoon.
