MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College softball team dropped a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference contests to Gordon College on Saturday afternoon at D. Forbes Will Field.

Curry fell 7-4 in game one before dropping a low-scoring 2-1 affair in game two.

With the defeats, Curry moves to 13-19-1 overall on the season and 4-10 in the CCC.

Game 1 - Gordon 7, Curry 4

Both teams scored three times in the first inning. Junior Taylor McDermott (Durham, Conn.) opened the scoring for Curry with an RBI single to right field in the bottom of the frame. The next at-bat, classmate Madelyn White (Franklin, Mass.) roped a two-run shot over the left field wall for her second home run in as many games, leveling the score at 3-3.

Gordon scored the game's next four runs to take a 7-3 lead in the top of the sixth. Curry responded with one run in the bottom of the sixth to move to within three on a Karlie Pontes (Dartmouth, Mass.) RBI fielder's choice, but the Colonels could get no closer.

White led Curry with three hits in the defeat, with two runs batted in and a run scored. McDermott recorded a pair of hits with a run scored and an RBI.

In the circle, sophomore Hailey King (Mansfield, Mass.) took the game one loss, allowing five earned runs while striking out a pair over 3.1 innings pitched.

Game 2 - Gordon 2, Curry 1

Curry jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the second inning when senior Emily Bussiere (Stow, Mass.) reached on a bunt base hit back to the pitcher. The throw to first however went into right field, allowing junior Jordan Ferullo (Burlington, Mass.) to score from second base.

The Fighting Scots answered with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings for all the offense they would need, going ahead 2-1.

McDermott and Bussiere were Curry's offensive leaders with two hits each.

Junior Caitlyn Wood (Saugus, Mass.) had a strong outing in the circle for Curry, allowing just one earned run with a pair of strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched in the defeat.

Next up for the Colonels, they will hit the road for a non-conference doubleheader at UMass Boston on Thursday. First pitch in game one is slated for 3 p.m.
