MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College softball team dropped a pair of Commonwealth Coast Conference contests to Nichols College Sunday afternoon at D. Forbes Will Field. Curry dropped game one 8-0 in six innings, before losing game two 7-5.

With the losses, Curry falls to 4-17 overall on the season and 0-4 in the CCC.

Game 1 - Nichols 8, Curry 0 (6 Innings)

Nichols scored at least once in every inning to take game one in an abbreviated six-inning affair.

Curry mustered just two hits in the defeat, a single to left from senior Lexi Buckner (Foxboro, Mass.) in the first, and a double to lead off the second inning from sophomore Madelyn White (Franklin, Mass.).

Caitlin Wood (Saugus, Mass.) was charged with the loss in the circle, allowing five earned runs over five innings of work.

Game 2 - Nichols 7, Curry 5

Curry erased a pair of two-run deficits in game two, but could not dig itself out of a late three-run hole as Nichols completed the sweep.

Trailing 2-0 after an inning and a half, RBI singles in consecutive innings by Madison Schwartz (Bridgewater, Mass.) and Camryn Willis (Foxboro, Mass.) tied the score at 2-2 after three.

After Nichols took a 4-2 lead with a pair in the top of the fourth, freshman Natalia Okleasky (Coventry, R.I.) drove in a run in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly to center. When the centerfielder's throw home sailed to the backstop, Schwartz was able to score from second base to tie the contest at 4-4.

The third lead of the contest for Nichols proved to be the one that Curry couldn't overcome, as the Bison scored once in the top of the sixth and twice in the top of the seventh to go ahead for good. Sophomore Taylor McDermott (Durham, Conn.) drove home a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh, but Curry couldn't bring home the tying runs as Nichols finished off the win.

Freshman Jillian Rogers (East Freetown, Mass.) took the loss for Curry, throwing three innings in relief and allowing three earned runs on five hits.

Curry will return to the diamond on Tuesday for a non-conference road trip to Bridgewater State University. First pitch in game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m.
