MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team was swept by Roger Williams University on Tuesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action in a 9-0 final at the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts. 

The Hawks improved to 6-4 (4-2 CCC) while the Colonels moved to 3-11 (1-4 CCC).

Roger Williams started off the contest strong as its first doubles pair of junior captain Brendan White (Old Lyme, Conn.) and freshman Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.) defeated junior Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and senior Richie Hefler, 8-2. The road team continued that momentum when junior Thomas O'Leary (North Easton, Mass.) and junior Miles Conlin (Branford, Conn.) defeated their second doubles foes of senior Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) and freshman Lorenzo Russo (Lynnfield, Mass.), 8-0. The last doubles match to finish up was in the third spot as freshman Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) and junior Matty Feldman (Duxbury, Mass.) blanked senior Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) and freshman Timothy O'Brien (Attleboro, Mass.), 8-0.

Leading 3-0 heading into singles action, the Hawks swept all six of their matches to close out the victory. Tocco, O'Leary, Feldman, Correa, and Cain each won in straight sets. The first singles match went two sets plus a super tiebreak. Roach took the first set 7-5 before falling 6-4 in the second, and 12-10 in the super tiebreak in lieu of a third set at No. 1 singles. O'Leary and Hefler also went the distance at No. 3. O'Leary captured the first set 6-2. Hefler responded with a 6-0 second. O'Leary finished strong with a 10-1 super tiebreaker win to secure the sweep.

Curry will be right back at it tomorrow, Wednesday, April 17 for a road match at Salem State starting at 3:30 p.m. Roger Williams concludes the regular season on Wednesday, April 24 at home against Endicott College for a league contest beginning at 4:00 p.m.
