Men's Tennis Splits With Nichols, Lesley

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 9-0 conference decision to Nichols College in the morning and then picked up a 7-2 victory over Lesley University at the Trent J. Scott '96 Tennis Courts.

Match One – Nichols 9, Curry 0

Nichols (6-5 overall) improved to 1-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play. The Bison swept all three doubles and took two by 8-0 finals before taking all six singles points.

The best singles match of the day came at the top spot between Nichols senior Blake Norton (Stratford, Conn.) and Curry junior Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.). Norton took the first set by a 7-6 score in a tiebreaker and then edged Roach 6-4 in the second.

The remaining five singles matches all ended in straight sets. No other Nichols player lost more than three games in any set with freshman Enrico Menegon (Monfumo, Italy) blanking senior Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) at No. 5 singles.

Match Two – Curry 7, Lesley 2

The Curry College men's tennis team picked up its second win of the season on Saturday afternoon by a 7-2 final over Lesley University.

The Colonels won two out of three doubles matches before losing at only one singles spot to clinch the win. Roach, senior Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.), senior Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.), and freshman Lorenzo Russo (Lynnfield, Mass.) won at both singles and doubles to lead the Colonels.

Curry (2-7, 0-1 CCC) will return to conference play at Endicott College on Tuesday, April 2 at 3:30 p.m.
