Men's Tennis Tripped Up 8-1 by Visiting Rhode Island College

MILTON, Mass. - Senior Alex Werchadlo (Woonsocket, RI) was one of five different Anchormen to go unbeaten, as Rhode Island College dispatched Curry College, 8-1, in non-conference men's tennis action Thursday afternoon in Milton.

Freshman Valvel Temin (Swampscott, MA) recorded the lone win for Curry (0-9) at No. 2 singles (6-3, 3-6, 7-6).

Rhode Island College swept doubles play on Thursday to help spearhead a strong afternoon for the visitors. Werchadlo and freshman Troy Derrick (Rumford, RI) picked up an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Timothy Holzinger (Foster, RI) and freshman Seongkyeong Kim (North Providence, RI) followed with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Brett Taggart (North Kingstown, RI) and junior Sean Raudonaitis (Westport, MA) rounded out the action with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Werchadlo led the way in singles flights with a 6-0, 7-6 victory at No. 1 singles over sophomore Toma Blatchford (Montreal, Quebec). Holzinger was victorious at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-2), while Taggart earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Kim chalked up a victory at No. 5 singles (6-4, 6-4) and Raudonaitis kept it rolling at No. 6 singles (6-1, 7-6).
