Men's Tennis Blanked 9-0 By Roger Williams in TCCC Finale

DORCHESTER, Mass. – Curry College was defeated by visiting Roger Williams, 9-0, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) men’s tennis action Wednesday afternoon at the Sportsman’s Tennis Club in Dorchester. With the win, the Hawks improve to 13-6 (9-1 TCCC), while the Colonels fall to 3-12 (2-9 TCCC). [Box Score]

Roger Williams began with easy wins at #1 doubles, where Kevin Erikson and Dan Kleitz took care of Tyler Dulmage and Tyler Collins, 8-0; and at #3 doubles, where Jonathan Chandler and Taylor Webster cruised past Robert Rosenbaum and Thomas Bagley, 8-1. The doubles match at #2 was even at 8-8, but the Hawks’ tandem of Jason Pacino and Nate Rohman earned the point over Charles Edlund and J.D. Moyer by blanking the Curry duo 7-0 in the tiebreaker.

The visitors captured all six singles matches in straight sets, although Webster was pushed by Collins to a first-set tiebreaker at #4 before prevailing, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.

Roger Williams, winners of eight straight matches, closes out its regular-season schedule by hosting Colby-Sawyer in a 1:00 p.m. match on Saturday. Curry wraps up its 2011 campaign by visiting Bridgewater State on Thursday in a non-conference match starting at 3:00 p.m.
