Men's Tennis Handed an 8-1 Non-Conference Loss at Rhode Island College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Rhode Island College men’s tennis team began the day with three doubles wins and took five of six in singles action to defeat Curry, 8-1, in a match played at the RIC Tennis Courts.

Five Anchormen went unbeaten on the day as senior Nate Rebello (Pawtucket, RI), freshman Alex Werchadlo (Woonsocket, RI), senior Mike Aiello (Scituate, RI), freshman Kyle Kelaghan (East Greenwich, RI) and sophomore Nate Lee (Bar Harbor, ME) each won their respective singles and doubles matches.

Rebello and Werchadlo paired for an 8-3 win at No. 1 singles, while Aiello and Kelaghan picked up an 8-3 decision a spot lower in the lineup. Lee and freshman Brad Lamoureux (Pawtucket, RI) won, 8-6, at No. 3 doubles.

Rebello improved his personal mark to 5-1 at No. 1 singles, scoring a 6-1 set one victory before his opponent retired. Both Aiello (No. 2) and Kelaghan (No. 4) were dominant with 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 victories, respectively.

Curry senior Robert Rosenbaum (Sharon, MA) earned the Colonels lone win on the day with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will open Little East Conference play at home against Southern Maine on Saturday (1 p.m.). Curry will travel to Eastern Nazarene on Saturday for a league match (1 p.m.). Match recap courtesy of RIC Sports Information
