Seventh-Seeded MTEN Opens TCCC Tournament on April 18 at Salve Regina

MILTON, Mass. - Roger Williams University has claimed the top seed for The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) men’s tennis championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. The Hawks (14-6 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming TCCC tournament after posting a perfect 9-0 record in conference play. RWU will host eighth-seeded Gordon College (5-14 overall, 2-7 TCCC) in Bristol, R.I. Roger Williams claimed a 7-2 victory in the teams’ regular-season matchup on March 28.

Salve Regina University (8-9 overall) and Endicott College (10-5 overall) finished with identical 7-2 conference records, but Salve Regina earned the #2 seed by virtue of a 7-2 victory when the teams met on April 7. The second-seeded Seahawks will host seventh-seeded Curry College (6-9, 3-6) in Newport, R.I. During the regular-season, Salve Regina claimed a 7-2 win over Curry on April 14.

The third-seeded Endicott Gulls will entertain sixth-seeded Western New England College (7-7, 4-5) in Beverly, Mass. Endicott was a 5-4 victor over WNEC in the squads’ regular-season meeting on March 27.

Fourth-seeded Colby-Sawyer College (8-8, 6-3) will host fifth-seeded Nichols College (12-7, 5-4) in New London, N.H. The Chargers picked up a 6-2 triumph in the teams’ April 1 matchup.

In addition to the previously-mentioned tiebreaker for the #2 seed, the only other tiebreaker applied was for the #8 seed, which Gordon claimed over Eastern Nazarene due to a 6-3 victory when the teams faced each other on April 7.

Quarterfinal winners will meet in semifinal-round action on Tuesday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m. The higher seed will host each match.

Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the site of the highest-remaining seed.
