Drons Hat-Trick Sends Men's Soccer to CCC Tournament Semifinals

WENHAM, Mass. - Curry College men's soccer rallied in the second half to defeat Gordon College 4-2 in the first round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference postseason tournament.

With the victory, Curry College improves to a record of 9-6-3 on the season and avenges the 2-1 regular season loss to Gordon on October 7th.

With the Colonels trailing by a goal heading into the second half, junior forward Lucas Drons (Bellingham, Mass.) scored three times to put Curry back on top. The first goal was unassisted in the 55th minute of play. The second put the Colonels on top 3-2 and was assisted by Adam Pforr (Weymouth, Mass.) in the 63rd minute of play. The third insurance goal was another unassisted effort in the 78th minute.

Graduate student Richard Savage (Rye, N.Y.) gave the Colonels an early 1-0 lead, scoring an unassisted goal just five minutes into the match.

Brendan Cunningham (Middletown, N.Y.) played the entire game in net for the Colonels, making four saves in the win.

Curry College will compete in the second round of the CCC postseason tournament on the road against No. 2 Roger Williams on Halloween. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31.
