Men's Soccer Picks Up First Conference Win Against Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. - Curry College defeated Nichols 4-1 Friday night in a Commonwealth Coast Conference men's collegiate soccer game.

The Colonel's offense struck first, taking a 1-0 lead only 39 seconds into the game when junior forward Lucas Drons (Bellingham, Mass.) scored his fourth goal of the year. He was assisted on the play by senior midfielder Morgan Estrella (Bellingham, Mass.).

Curry took a 2-0 lead just under three minutes later when graduate student Adam Pforr (Weymouth, Mass.). scored off a penalty kick for his fifth goal of the year.

The Colonels weren't done scoring in the first half with freshman Noah Doyens scoring his first collegiate goal in the 29th minute of play to put Curry up 3-1. He was assisted by Giovanni Martins (Brockton, Mass.).

Curry extended the lead to three (4-1) in the 68th minute of play when Drons scored his second goal of the game, this time assisted by Pforr.

Brendan Cunningham (Middletown, N.Y.) played the entire game in net for the Colonels making six saves in the win.

Curry College (6-1-3, ) returns to action on Tuesday (10/3) in a non-conference road game against Plymouth State. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
