Men’s Soccer Completes Comeback Win over Mass. Maritime

MILTON, Mass - Curry came back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Mass. Maritime 5-3 Wednesday night in non-conference collegiate men's soccer action at Walter M. Katz Field.

After going down by two goals, the Colonels first got on the board when they were fouled in the box, setting up Adam Pforr (Weymouth, Mass.), who lined up and scored on a penalty shot for his first goal of the season with 14:49 on the clock. Pforr would score again just a few minutes later, this time assisted on the play by JD Santiago (La Plata, Md.), tying the game at 2-2.

The Buccaneers scored again to take a 3-2 lead, but the Colonels managed to tie the game back up after Ray Weinstein (Goshen, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the season. He was unassisted on the play.

The Colonels took the lead when Lucas Drons (Bellingham, Mass.) scored off a pass from Giovanni Martins (Brockton, Mass.) in the 60th minute of play. Martins extended Curry's lead with 73:15 on the clock, scoring off a pass from Pforr.

The Buccaneer's goals included a solo goal by Brody Calvert and two from CJ Vincent with an assist from Calvert.

Brendan Cunningham (Middletown, N.Y.) earned the win in net for the Colonels, making three saves throughout the contest. Curry also outshot Mass Maritime 27-14 and took 12 corners, compared to only one for the Buccaneers.

Curry College (2-0-1) returns to action on Tuesday (9/12) with a road matchup against Springfield, kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
