Last Minute Men's Soccer Goal Results in Draw With Southern Maine

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's soccer team scored a last-minute goal to tie with the University of Southern Maine Monday afternoon in non-conference men's collegiate soccer action at Walter M. Katz Field.

With just 56 seconds remaining in regulation, JD Santiago (La Plata, Md.) took a corner from the right side and crossed the ball in front of the net to Richard Savage (Rye, N.Y.), who finished with a header to tie the game at one goal apiece.

The University of Southern Maine's Will Smith scored the Huskies' only goal of the game in the 14th minute of play.

The Colonels had plenty of other opportunities to score, outshooting the Huskies 18-9, including seven shots on goal. Brendan Cunningham (Middletown, N.Y.) played the entire game in goal for Curry, finishing with five saves.

Curry College (1-0-1) returns to action on Wednesday (9/6) hosting Mass. Maritime. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m.
