Men’s Soccer Kicks Off 2023 Season With Win Over Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. - Curry College opened the 2023 season with a 2-1 victory over Anna Maria in non-conference collegiate men's soccer action at Caparso Field.

Senior midfielder JD Santiago (La Plata, Md.) gave the Colonels a 1-0 advantage in the eighth minute of play when he scored his first goal of the season, an unassisted goal.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the 75th minute of play, junior forward Lucas Drons (Bellingham, Mass.) found the back of the net to score an unassisted goal and put the Colonels ahead for good.

Anna Maria's only goal was unassisted and scored in the 47th minute by junior midfielder Rubelsi Moran.

Curry totaled eight shots-on-goal throughout the contest, with sophomore goalkeeper Brendan Cunningham (Middletown, N.Y.) making six saves in the victory.

Curry College (1-0-0) looks to start a winning streak when they return to action in the home opener against the University of Southern Maine on Monday (9/4), beginning at 1:00 p.m.
