Men's Soccer Plays Roger Williams to 2-2 Draw

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Curry College men's soccer team played Roger Williams University to a 2-2 tie in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Tuesday evening at Bayside Field.

With the draw, the Colonels move to 6-3-3 overall and 1-2-2 in CCC play.

All four of the contest's goals came in the second half, with Roger Williams breaking the ice in the 58th minute. Just 1:59 after conceding the opener however, Curry got back to level when junior Adam Pforr (Weymouth, Mass.) converted on a penalty kick.

In the 78th minute, Curry took its first lead of the game when Pforr got on the end of a Nick Sailer (Burbank, Calif.) cross and headed it into the back of the net for his second goal of the game.

The Hawks poured on the pressure in the waning minutes of the game looking for the equalizer, and finally got it with 23 seconds to play. Off a free kick, Hawk midfielder Jack Wildermann rose above a sea of bodies and headed a shot over the head of the Curry goalkeeper and into the net to keep his team unbeaten in CCC play.

In net, Curry freshman goalkeeper Justin Ritz (Carver, Mass.) made three saves to earn his second draw in as many games this season.

Next up for the Colonels, they will host Suffolk University for their Homecoming game on Friday night. Kickoff from Walter M. Katz Field is slated for 7 p.m.
