Men's Soccer Doubles Up Plymouth State

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's soccer team defeated Plymouth State University 4-2 Wednesday evening in non-conference action at a rainy Walter M. Katz Field.

With the victory, Curry improves to 6-3-1 overall on the 2022 season.

Curry opened the scoring just over six and a half minutes into the contest, when junior JD Santiago (La Plata, Md.) scored on a rocket from 30 yards out to the top left corner of the net. Classmate Adam Pforr (Weymouth, Mass.) was credited with an assist on the tally.

In the waning seconds of the half, Pforr scored a goal of his own, heading home an Ean McGonigle (Rehoboth, Mass.) corner kick with just four seconds left until halftime, sending the Colonels to the break ahead 2-0.

With exactly 28 minutes showing on the clock, senior Ryan Brady (Weymouth, Mass.) notched his first goal of the season on a Lucas Drons (Bellingham, Mass.) feed to push Curry's advantage to 3-0, before Drons scored in the 70th minute to put the Colonels on top 4-0.

Plymouth State scored twice in the final nine minutes of the game, but the Colonels were able to weather the storm, holding on for a 4-2 victory.

In net, Curry freshman Brendan Cunningham (Middletown, N.Y.) was credited with the win, making four saves.

Next up for Curry, they will return to Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Saturday with a 5 p.m. home kick-off against Nichols College.
