MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over Mitchell College Wednesday evening in non-conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the win, Curry improves to 4-2-3 overall on the season, while Mitchell dips to 0-6-1.

Curry controlled the play for the better part of the contest, but finally broke through in the 26th minute. Off a Richard Silva (Pompano Beach, Fla.) corner kick, freshman Eddie Medina (Las Cruces, N.M.) hopped on a loose ball and buried it for his first collegiate goal. Sophomore Giovanni Martins (Brockton, Mass.) was credited with an assist on the score.

The 1-0 scoreline would hold until the halftime whistle sounded. At the break, Curry held a 10-1 lead in the shot count.

Curry held on to its one-goal lead for the majority of the second half, until a stroke of luck in the 88th minute gave the Colonels the insurance they needed to close out the victory. Facing pressure at the top of the 18-yard box, a Mitchell defender attempted to head a loose ball back to goalkeeper Dylan Kinsella, but failed to recognize Kinsella's sprint out to retrieve the same loose ball. The defender's header found its way straight into the back of the net for an own goal, extending Curry's lead to the game's final score of 2-0.

Kinsella took the loss for the Mariners, making three saves. Curry's Kyle Tremblay (Methuen, Mass.) was credited with his third win of the season, recording a one-save shutout.

The Colonels will be back in action on Saturday for a key Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup on the road against Salve Regina.
