Men's Soccer Stumbles at Wentworth 3-1 in CCC Play

BOSTON, Mass. – Three different players found the back of the net at the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team closed out regular-season play with a 3-1 win over Curry in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Tuesday night.

The Leopards improve to 9-7-2 overall and end league play with a 5-2-2 mark. The Colonels end their season with an 8-11-1 overall record and 2-7-0 CCC record.

The hosts jumped on the board with a pair of goals in the first half as sophomore Griffin Price (Allendale, N.J.) got things going 8:29 into the contest when he made a long run down the left side where senior Emmett Basaca (San Diego, Calif.) sent a cross through the box for Price to finish. Sophomore Diego Panayotti (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) gave Wentworth a 2-0 lead after he headed in a senior Michael Zendan (Charlotte, N.C.) free kick with 6:19 remaining in the opening frame.

Freshman Nathan Gosselin (Hudson, N.H.) have the Leopards a 3-0 lead when classmate Juan Cedeno (North Andover, Mass.) sent a cross from the left side which slipped by the keeper, giving Gosselin an open net to the right side.

Curry ended the shutout bid with 7:57 remaining as senior Ben Silvia (Dartmouth, Mass.) made a long run down the right side and put home a shot inside the left post.

Sophomore Philip Chomicki (Dorchester, Mass.) made eight saves for Wentworth while senior Adam DiBrina (Sudbury, Ont.) stopped eight shots for Curry. Wentworth had a 25-14 shot advantage and a 5-4 edge on corner kicks. (Game Recap Courtesy of Wentworth Sports Information)
