Men's Soccer Knocked Off 1-0 in Double Overtime at Eastern Nazarene

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team grabbed the final spot in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament with a dramatic 1-0 win over Curry in double-overtime Tuesday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

With their first victory over Curry since 2003, the Lions finish the regular season with a 6-10-2 overall record and a 2-7-0 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference and will make their first playoff appearance since 2012. The Colonels drop to 6-12-1 on the year and 2-6-1 in league play.

Prior to kick-off, the Eastern Nazarene men's soccer program recognized its six seniors: Elly Buford (Atlanta, Ga.), Ian Carson (San Antonio, Texas), David Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.), Jameson MacFarland (Jacksonville, Fla.), Jacob Mason (Southport, England), and Peter Ostergren (Pasadena, Md.).

After 90 minutes of back-and-forth action with no goals, the match headed to overtime. The home side attempted 11 shots in regulation while the visitors fired eight shots.

Curry boasted a 3-2 edge in shots in the first period of overtime as neither squad found the back of the net.

Eastern Nazarene netted the golden goal in the 107th minute to clinch its second conference win of the fall. Carson buried his third marker of the season as he pounced on a loose ball inside the box, rolling a shot inside the left post.

The Lions concluded the contest with 18 shots and the Colonels registered 12 attempts on the night.

MacFarland posted his first clean sheet of the year with a four-save performance between the pipes for the hosts.

Up next, Eastern Nazarene heads into the postseason as the No. 8 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. The Lions will hit the road to take on top-seeded Endicott October 29 in the quarterfinal round.
