NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 1, 2016 – The Curry College men's soccer team lost, 3-0, at Colby-Sawyer College in the season opener. 

Colby-Sawyer scored twice in the first half and added a third in the second half to take the season opener and gave head coach Charles Metz his first victory.

Colby-Sawyer improves to 1-0 and is back on the pitch against Daniel Webster at home on Saturday at 1 p.m. Curry drops to 0-1 and will play its second straight North Atlantic Conference foe on Saturday with a 1 p.m. tilt at Johnson State.

Junior Jake Sykes (Laconia, N.H.) put the home team on top in the 37th minute when he finished a through ball from junior Denali Sexton (Barrington, R.I.). Seven minutes later, Sykes returned the favor as he set up Sexton for a goal off a give-and-go.

Sexton headed home Colby-Sawyer's third goal of the game in the 77th minute off a corner kick from senior Andrew Clothier (Matamata, New Zealand). Clothier is now one assist shy of tying the program record of 22.

Colby-Sawyer outshot the Colonels 18-7 and held an edge of 4-3 in corner kicks.

Sophomore goalies Shane Sacks (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Jake Towle (Barnstead, N.H.) each played a half to combine for the clean sheet. Sacks made three saves, while Towle stopped one shot.
