Men's Soccer Shuts Out Becker College, 5-0

LEICESTER, MASS. – Becker College suffered a 5-0 loss to Curry College in non-conference men’s soccer action on Monday evening at Alumni Field.

The Colonels got on the board in the 13th minute when Darren Smith (Newcastle, Del.) dropped a pass back to Michael Quintanilla (Norwood, Mass.), who ripped a shot into the top right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead. Curry increased their advantage to 2-0 when Matt Cotnoir (Longmeadow, Mass.) split the Becker defense and then scored into the bottom right corner.

Quintanilla scored his second goal of the game in the 53rd minute on a direct kick, increasing the Colonels lead to 3-0. In the 55th minute, sophomore Nick Gilman (Longmeadow, Mass.) tallied his sixth goal of the season when he rebounded a shot in from of the Hawks net, tapping it over the head of Becker keeper Tim MacDonald (Holden, Mass.).  Curry netted their final goal of the contest when Cotnoir set up Lucas Carneado (Houston, Texas) for his first collegiate ponts, making the final 5-0.

Tim MacDonald made 12 saves for the Hawks in net. Curry goalkeeper Nick Barber (Pittsfield, Mass.) made three saves in a winning effort.

Becker will return to action on Saturday, October 20, when they host NECC rival Mitchell College at 6:00 p.m. The Colonels will shoot for their third consecutive win on Wednesday, October 17, when host CCC opponent Gordon College at 4:00 p.m.(Game Recap Courtesy of Becker Sports Information)
