Men's Soccer Falls to New England College 1-0

MILTON, Mass.- New England College defeated Curry College 1-0 on Saturday in Milton.  With the win the Pilgrims improve to 7-6 overall and 4-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.  The Colonels fell to 6-8 overall and 3-5 in the TCCC.

Despite outshooting the Pilgrims 13-6, New England College was the first to score in the first half.  At the 9:03 mark sophomore Aaron Kolb (New Durham, NH) crossed the ball from the far right corner of the field to teammate sophomore Paul McLean (East Hartford, CT) for his first goal of the night.  Curry was unable to answer with a goal of their own and went into the half down by one.

The Pilgrims goal early in the first half would be the only one of the game.  NEC was able to hold on to the 1-0 lead even though they had 13 less shots than Curry.  Solid play by the Pilgrims goalkeeper junior Pat Harkin (Scituate, RI) kept the Colonels scoreless.

Curry finished the day with 23 shots while New England had just 10.

Harkin made 13 saves in the win.  Junior goalkeeper Brian Newsome (Lawrenceville, MA) played in net for Curry and made six saves in the loss.

The Colonels will travel to Endicott College on Wednesday, October 13 for a 6:30 p.m. contest. New England hosts Eastern Nazarene on Tuesday, October 12 for a 3:30 p.m. game start.
