Men's Soccer Earns First Win of the Season Defeating Emmanuel College 2-1

MILTON, Mass.- Curry College defeated Emmanuel College 2-1 on Wednesday in Milton.  With the win the Colonels improve to 1-0 overall.  The Saints fall to 0-1 overall.

Emmanuel got on the board first at the 30:55 mark on an unassisted goal by sophomore Kevin Shirley (Madison, CT).  The Colonels at the time held a 12-2 advantage in shots but just couldn't find the back of the net. Curry finished the half with 13 shots, four on goal, and Emmanuel three shots all on goal.

Curry wasted no time in the second half to tie the game just over five minutes of play.  Sophomore Brandon Martins (Attleboro, MA) scored off a cross from freshman Ephesien Simpson (Porto Prince, Haiti).  The Colonels continued to outshoot the Saints and at the 9:30 mark Emmanuel's goalkeeper committed a foul in the penalty box. Sophomore Devin Sadlers (Somerset, MA) was awarded the shot and earned the goal after he placed the ball in the top-right corner of the net.  That goal would prove to be the game-winner.

Freshman James Oliver (Hanover, Mass) got his first collegiate start in net and made four saves for the win. In net for Emmanuel College was junior Patrick Foroass (Oneida, NY) who made eight saves.

The Colonels will travel to Wheaton College for the Wheaton College Kick-Off Classic on Saturday, September 4 for a 12:00 p.m game time. Emmanuel College will travel to Newbury College on Saturday September 4 for a 12:00 p.m. game start.
