Men’s Lacrosse Falls in Overtime Against Wentworth

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 6-5 in overtime by Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference men's lacrosse game at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 3-11, and a conference record of 1-4.

Curry scored twice in the opening period, leaving the opposing teams deadlocked at 2-2 after one-quarter of play. Anthony Lewis (Middletown, R.I.) connected with Stephen Stackhouse (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) on the first Curry goal of the game. Brody Dalzell () scored the next goal after scooping up a groundball to tie the game.

The game remained tied heading into halftime with Lewis and Stackhouse connecting for another goal to set the score at 3-3. Trailing by one halfway through the third, Albie DiBella (Norwell, Mass.) ran through several defenders before finding Dom Cerone (Hanover, Mass.) who scored to tie the game at 4-4 heading into the final quarter of play.

With 7:44 remaining in the fourth quarter, Cerone gave the Colonels a 5-4 lead with an unassisted goal that snuck between the goalie's legs. Three penalties for Curry gave the Leopards a three-man advantage, resulting in the visitors tying the game back up at 5-5 to send the game to overtime.

Evan Falandys (Leominster, Mass.) played the entire game in goal for the Colonels, making an impressive 19 saves to keep the game close.

Curry College returns to action on Tuesday, April 16th, with a road game against Endicott beginning at 3:30 p.m.
