Men's Lacrosse Drops 2OT Thriller

Plymouth, NH – The Curry Men's Lacrosse team fell to the Plymouth State Panthers in double overtime on Saturday by a final score of 9-8. The Colonels are now 1-4 on the season, while the Panthers move to 3-0.

Brody Dalzell opened the scoring, putting the Colonels up two minutes into the game. But two Plymouth State goals would give them a 2-1 lead after one. The scoring picked up in the second, with Curry scoring the first two goals of the quarter, the first by Albie DiBella, assisted by Dalzell, and then Mac Kline assisted by Alex Ripa to give the Colonels a 3-2 lead midway through the second quarter. But three straight goals from the Panthers would give them a 5-3 lead at the break.

Similar to the second quarter, the third quarter saw the Colonels score the first two goals. This time it was Anthony Lewis scoring just a minute into the quarter, assisted by Dalzell for the first goal. The next goal came seven minutes later from Dom Cerone. This tied things up at five, but after a Curry penalty, the Panthers went back up with a goal. Just 90 seconds later Ripa would tie things back up, but a Plymouth State goal with just second remaining in the third gave them a 7-6 lead headed into the final period. Just as they did in every other quarter, the Colonels struck first in the fourth, with Kline scoring his second of the day just 40 seconds into the new period. A Panthers goal with six minutes left in the game put them back ahead, but Connor Bryant scored with just under three minutes remaining to tie things up for the Colonels. Neither team would score again, sending it to overtime. After a scoreless first overtime period, the Panthers found the game winner in the second OT.

Kyle Bouley was a force on the defensive side of things, as he forced three turnovers. Joey Pinto and Ethan Donovan each had two themselves. Nobody had more than three ground balls for Curry, as their 26 as a team were spread out among 14 players. Liam O'Neill had 13 saves for the Colonels.

Up Next – The Colonels will travel to Dean on Wednesday for a 3pm game.
