Men’s Lacrosse Falls Short at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. - Curry College was defeated 12-7 by Rivier University Saturday afternoon in a non-conference collegiate men's lacrosse game at Joanne Merrill Field.

With the loss, the Colonels drop to an overall record of 1-2 and will play another six non-conference games before facing off against their first CCC opponent in Roger Williams on Saturday, March 27th.

The Colonels took an early 2-0 lead, starting with a goal by junior Mac Kline (Essex, Conn.) just two minutes into play after receiving a pass from senior Albie DiBella (Norwell, Mass.). Two minutes later, senior Dom Cerone (Hanover, Mass.) found his classmate Anthony Lewis (Middletown, R.I.) who scored Curry's second goal. The Colonels finished the first quarter with a 3-2 lead when senior Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal with 7 minutes left in the period.

After four straight goals from the Raiders, junior Brody Dalzell (Wrentham, Mass.) minimized the damage with a goal late in the second quarter after receiving a pass from senior Alex Ripa (Middletown, R.I.) to finish the quarter trailing 6-4.

After another scoring run from Rivier in the third, Kline scored his second goal of the contest to cut the home team's lead to four (9-5). The Colonels scored twice more in the final quarter, starting with an unassisted goal by junior TJ Sedam (Plainville, Mass.) followed by a Chris Silva (Middletown, R.I.) score off a pass from Lewis.

Senior Liam O'Neill (McMurray, Pa.) played the entire game in net for the Colonels, making eight saves in the loss.

Curry College returns to action on Wednesday, February 28th, in a home game against Eastern Connecticut beginning at 4 p.m.
