Men's Lacrosse Uses Big First Quarter to Beat Sage

Milton, MA - The Curry College Colonels took on the Sage Gators on Wednesday, defeating them 7-3. The Colonels are now 1-1 on the season, while the Gators are 0-2.

The Colonels came out firing early, scoring three goals in just a little over the first four minutes. The first and third each came from Brody Dalzell, with the first being assisted by Dom Cerone. Cerone would find the back of the net in between those two goals. Cerone would score again in the final 10 seconds of the first quarter, giving the Colonels a commanding 4-0 lead after the first quarter. The Gators would score twice in the second quarter to cut the lead in half, and send the game to halftime with Curry up 4-2.

The lone goal of the third quarter was a special one, as Kyle Bouley, a sophomore, scored his first career goal, and was assisted by Ethan Donovan. The Colonels would further extend their lead in the fourth, first on an Anthony Lewis goal early, and then again when Cerone completed the hat trick to make it 7-2. Dalzell had the assist on the Cerone goal. The Gators would add one final goal with four minutes remaining, but the Colonels took home the win by a score of 7-3.

Bouley, Ryan McGillivray, Donovan, and Lewis each had two caused turnovers for the Colonels, while Sean Young led the way with six ground balls. In a game where they controlled from the outset, the Colonels only won four of the 14 faceoffs. In net, Liam O'Neill picked up the win, making saves on 10 of the 13 shots he faced.

Up Next - The Colonels will take on Rivier on Saturday, travelling to Nashua for a 12pm start.
