Comeback Bid Falls Short for Men's Lacrosse at Plymouth State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Curry College men's lacrosse team fell just short of finishing off a comeback bid Friday afternoon, falling to Plymouth State University by a final score of 11-9 in non-conference action at Panther Field.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 1-4 overall on the season.

Plymouth State outscored Curry by a lopsided 7-1 margin in the opening half, with the lone Colonel tally coming off the stick of junior Pat Modoono (Billerica, Mass.).

In the third quarter, the Colonels began on the comeback trail by outscoring the Panthers 3-2 to cut the deficit to 9-4. Senior Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.) scored a pair of goals in the quarter for the visitors, while Modoono notched his second of the contest.

The teams split the first four goals of the fourth quarter evenly as Plymouth State claimed an 11-6 lead. Curry's two goals were scored by Modoono and senior Robbie Tartaglia (Wrentham, Mass.).

Trailing by five however, the Colonels notched three consecutive tallies on goals from defender Will Karszes (Somers, Conn.), Brody Dalzell (Wrentham, Mass.), and Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.) to cut Plymouth's edge to just 11-9 with 3:22 remaining. Curry could not get any closer however, as the Panthers sealed the victory.

In net, Curry junior goaltender Austin Brown (Scarborough, Maine) turned aside seven shots in the defeat.

Next up for the Colonels, they will be off until Saturday, March 18 when they travel to Gordon College to open Commonwealth Coast Conference play against the Fighting Scots at 1 p.m.
