Men's Lacrosse Doubled Up by Mass. Maritime

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's lacrosse team fell to Massachusetts Maritime Academy 10-5 Friday evening in non-conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 1-3 overall on the young season.

Curry jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage on goals from senior Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.) and sophomore Mac Kline (Essex, Conn.) in the opening three and a half minutes of the contest. The Buccaneers tied the score on a pair of tallies from Mitchell Maida and the first quarter came to a close knotted at 2-2.

The Colonels took a 3-2 lead when senior Robbie Tartaglia (Wrentham, Mass.) notched a goal with 1:47 remaining in quarter number two, but Ryan McDonough tied the score for Mass. Maritime with just 32 seconds left to send the game to halftime once again all tied up.

Perfetuo and Tartaglia each netted their second goals of the game in the third quarter as Curry jumped out to a 5-3 lead with three and a half minutes left in the frame, but from there it was all Buccaneers. The visitors tallied a pair down the stretch in the third to tie the score, and outpaced Curry 5-0 in the fourth to seal the come-from-behind victory.

Between the pipes, Curry junior netminder Austin Brown (Scarborough, Maine) turned aside eight shots.

Next up for the Colonels, they will be off until next Friday when they travel to Plymouth State University for a matchup with the Panthers. Faceoff is slated for 3 p.m.
