Men's Lacrosse Slides Past Eastern Connecticut State

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's lacrosse team knocked off Eastern Connecticut State University 16-7 Wednesday afternoon in its home opener at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the victory, Curry improves to 1-2 overall on the season.

Curry outscored the Warriors 3-1 in the opening quarter to take an early advantage. Junior Stephen Stackhouse (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) opened the scoring just 1:21 into the contest for the game's first goal, followed by Curry tallies by Robbie Tartaglia (Wrentham, Mass.) and Dom Cerone (Hanover, Mass.).

The Colonels broke it wide open in the second quarter, putting up an eight-spot to carry an 11-2 lead into halftime. Stackhouse scored three goals in the quarter, while senior Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.) and junior Pat Modoono (Billerica, Mass.) tallied a pair each. Zach Weinstein (Davie, Fla.) netted the final goal of the frame, ending a 10-0 Curry run with 2:37 left in the half.

In the third, Curry and Eastern Connecticut each scored a pair of goals to head to the fourth with a scoreline of 13-4. Brody Dalzell (Wrentham, Mass.) and Modoono scored in the third for Curry.

Fourth quarter goals from Dalzell, Modoono, and sophomore Mac Kline (Essex, Conn.) sealed Curry's 16-7 victory.

Curry junior netminder Austin Brown (Scarborough, Maine) made a career-high 14 saves to earn the win between the pipes for Curry.

Next up for the Colonels, they will take the field on Friday evening for a rescheduled contest against Mass. Maritime at Katz Field. Faceoff is slated for 6 p.m.
