Men's Lacrosse Tripped Up by Wheaton

NORTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's lacrosse team fell to Wheaton College by a final score of 6-5 in non-conference action at Nordin Field.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 0-2 overall on the season.

Junior Stephen Stackhouse (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) opened the scoring for the Colonels just under a minute and a half into the first quarter, netting his first goal of the season. Brody Dalzell (Wrentham, Mass.) also scored in the first quarter for the Colonels, as the period ended with the score tied at 2-2.

Two goals late in the second quarter gave Curry a 4-3 lead heading to the break. Dalzell tied the score on a fast break with his second of the game with 4:17 left in the quarter, before Robbie Tartaglia (Wrentham, Mass.) gave Curry the lead with just under three to play.

Dalzell completed the hat trick with just over six and a half minutes to play in the third quarter to give Curry its first two-goal lead of the afternoon. Dalzell's tally, however, would be the final goal scored by the Colonels on the day.

The Lyons cut the deficit to one with a man-up marker late in the third quarter, followed by two in the fourth to complete the come-from-behind victory.

In net, Curry netminder Austin Brown (Scarborough, Maine) took the loss, despite making nine saves. He was outdueled in the low-scoring contest by his Wheaton counterpart Cory Bannon, who stopped 19 of 24 shots he faced.

Next up for the Colonels, they will play their home opener on Thursday at Walter M. Katz Field. Faceoff between Curry and Eastern Connecticut State University is slated for 4 p.m.
