Men's Lacrosse Absorbs 8-6 Conference Loss at Roger Williams

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Curry College men's lacrosse team lost an 8-6 decision to conference foe Roger Williams University on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Hawks move to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCC. The Colonels now sit at 4-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Roger Williams opened the game on a 3-0 run to grab an early advantage. John Lisitano (Guilford, Conn.) got the run started with an unassisted tally with 11:44 on the clock. Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.)  followed with a goal of his own off an assist from Ryan Lewis to the Hawks up 2-0 and then Owen Love (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y. ) capped the run when he found the back of the net off a pass from JP Shimko (Easton, Conn.).

Curry halted the run and got on the board at the 1:23 mark of the first quarter. MJ Urbano (Wakefield, Mass.) opened the scoring on an unassisted goal. The Colonels would then pull to within one following a goal by Cameron Nigro (Scarborough, Maine) on the lone goal by either team in the second quarter.

Curry was able to pull to within one of the Hawks in the third after the teams traded three goals apiece in the stanza. Eddie Hill (Somers, Conn.) scored with 13:35 to go in the stanza to go up two at 4-2. Dominick Marcella (Hull, Mass.) pulled the Colonels to within one with an unassisted tally. Urbano would score 13 seconds later to knot the game at four off an assist from Nigro.

Roger Williams outscored Curry 2-1 over the final 7:38 of the third quarter, thanks to goals from Harrison Levesque (Ridgefield, Conn.) and Chris Bova (Ridgefield, Conn.). The Colonels got their tally from Marcella as the Hawks carried a 6-5 lead into the final quarter of action.

Curry tied the contest up for a third time to open the fourth following a goal from Dakota Sanders (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) off an assist from Brandon Flaim (Pembroke, Mass.). However, Roger Williams would close the game on with two unanswered goals to take the contest by an 8-6 final. Marzec put the Hawks up 7-6 while Max Cammarota (Reading, Conn.) added an insurance tally with 1:26 left on the clock.

The Colonels were led by Urbano and Marcella, who each registered two points apiece on two goals. Sanders and Nigro added tallies to close the scoring for Curry.

Marzec paced Roger Williams with two goals on the night. Six others recorded a goal apiece to round out the scoring for the home team.

Dolan Jones (Levittown, N.Y.) picked up the win in the cage for the Hawks. He made 12 saves in 60 minutes of action. Shane O'Brien (East Falmouth, Mass.) was credited with the loss, recording 12 saves in 60 minutes.

Curry will return to action on Thursday for a non-conference road contest at Anna Maria College at 5:00 p.m. Roger Williams will next play Thursday at Eastern Connecticut State for a 4:00 p.m. faceoff.
