SOUTH BOSTON, Mass. - It was an early morning when the alarm clocks went off at 4:30 a.m. for the Curry men's lacrosse team on October 20.  A few Dunkin Donuts trips later however, and the guys were starting to get their energy as they met in the athletic field parking lot at 5:30 a.m. to caravan to Joe Moakley Park in South Boston and volunteer at the Susan G. Komen - Race for the Cure event.  By 6:00 a.m. the team was at the park and put right to work setting up vendor tents, wiping down tables, and carrying anything and everything they were asked to from one side of the park to the other.

By the time 7:00 a.m. rolled around and the sun began fighting through the clouds, the guys started getting their "actual" assignments for the day.  Jobs varied from the bag check station to the water station, helping with sponsor tents to handing out information on breast cancer, and everywhere in between.  Decked out in a variety of different shirts and given a variety of jobs, the common theme of the day was participating in a community event and supporting every person in attendance that has been affected by breast cancer.  Once the race started at 10:00 a.m. the majority of the team was dispersed throughout the course offering encouragement and lending a hand wherever needed.

“Many of the guys will tell you that the highlight of the day was standing at the finish line and celebrating with everyone as they crossed,” said Curry Men’s Lacrosse Coach Tim Murphy.  “It's safe to say that high fives were running rampant in South Boston last Saturday morning.”
